~So Long~
Don’t ya just love it when the calm before the storm is in reality the storm before the storm?!
Part of me knows it’s my fault……could have worked more this weekend, could be a touch more organized.
But another part of me says I need more hours in the day, and for heaven’s sake, I feel like I’m busy almost all the time.
Either way, here I am at 10:35 p.m.
Just finishing the bulk of my prep work for the first day of school tomorrow.
Three kids have:
Text books with names on them, binders with labeled tab dividers per subject, medical forms filled out, very important decorative key chains attached to back packs, lunch food in the fridge, ready to be made in the morning, uniforms fluffing in the dryer, pencils sharpened, and my alarm clock set for 6:30 sharp.
I have all kind of goals for the school year to help make the days run smoother. Will let you know how those develop and hold out.
One thing I’m for sure doing is on the two days a week that I’m literally in the car from at least 2:30 to heaven knows when, I’m packing a cooler with drinks, I’ll have a permanent bag in the car filled with snacks, napkins, wet wipes, and a separate bag with coloring stuff and bribe candy. I think it’s a good plan.
So long summer. It was a good one…..though I must say I’m a little irritated with how quickly you came and went.
Whatever happened to post Labor Day school start?

Blessings on your first school day! Hope all goes smoothly! We have a week plus some, but I’m already mad at Summer for being so short!
i seriously had to go back and read TWICE to make sure i read right.. school started for y’all ALREADY!!! wow. that seems so early. sorry. i know i’m not helping – - but i’m still trying to wipe away the visions of back packs and binders i saw the other day when i walked into wal-mart. i think this was the shortest summer EVER!!
hope everything goes smooth as smooth for ya in the morning. it always takes a few weeks to adjust to a new schedule, right. i think the packed cooler and wipes is a great idea! i was JUST thinking how i needed to do that {atleast carry wipes in the van} tonight at shayne’s bball game when reese soaked her clothes! :/ i’m always so disorganized in situations like that. i think you’ve inspired me to CHANGE that!!

Ugh, I agree! Why in the world is it starting so early this year?! Not fun at all.
I love the plan for the car, very smart.
Our school district began school today…I’m so glad we’re finished with that part of our life! It was exhausting! This Thursday, we’re driving our two younger ones to Texas for college. A WHOLE ‘nother life chapter, as the baby leaves the nest. I love your photos!

Our schools start back on the 20th. When do you get out?? sheez.

So how is the first day of school shaping up?
I agree with some of the other commenters…your school is starting early! Who all comes up with the starting date anyway? Ours used to start around the 15th but this year they’re starting the 27th. I just never understand that. Why start before labor day and then have a holiday a week later? The other part of starting late is that they don’t get out till JUNE! It seems like they keep pushing it back and getting out later and later.
I like our home-school schedule where we started the day after labor day and got done the end of may with only 2 big breaks in between.

Hope all went well with the first day. We always SAY we are gonna be so organized, right? Ha! Kids here in Denmark start back to school on Monday. It will be a lot more quiet around the apartments, I am thinkin’! Summer did fly by. WOW.
Ditto on “Whatever happened to post Labor Day school start?” Seems start date gets earlier and earlier. A week earlier this year for us then normal.

I can’t decide what he best school schedule would be. I just hope they don’t switch us to a nearly year round schedule…..that would stink! I like my summer break. It takes a couple weeks to wind down and really relax!
@Mrs Troop - Hope your start is smooth as well. I would be okay with going back in early August if we could get out May 1.
i wish that we got out in the middle of may! but i ALSO want to start after labor day, like it did when i was a kid.
