The End of Summer……Sort Of.
When I think summer, I think heat. And let’s face it, we gotta WHOLE lot of heat left before we hit autumn! However over the years, August has become a school month. “Back to school” clothes now have to be summer things even though the stores and catalogs are bursting at the seem with plaids, sweaters, and wool.
Nonetheless, tomorrow marks the official end of summer for us BECAUSE, my oldest two are going to school for the first time.

.
Yep. They are. I still can’t believe it myself. I’ve homeschooled them to this point but this year, we’re giving “away” school a try. This is a post in and of itself which just might come later this week.
But for now, I just have to say that peace is a funny thing. I’ve discovered you can’t always explain why or how peace comes. But I guess that’s the nature of true peace. It “passes all understanding”.So our summer recap would look something like this:
~Moving. More moving. Still wondering when exactly we will be completely moved in.
~Being without my Brad for June and July. Not fun.
~Swimming in our great neighborhood pool right across the street…a lot. One of the saving graces of the summer.
~Lots and lots of painting. Walls, beds, dressers, bedside tables, mantles, and ceilings. A couple days ago, Brad said, “I think you paint stuff more than most people.” hehe
~Adjusting to a new puppy. Nothing more to say on that one.
~Basking in the wonder of living so close to family and in knowing that all the years of school for Brad are d.o.n.e.
~How could I forget! Discovering the fact that we’re having another baby.
My camera has taken a back seat to all the craziness of life in the recent past but here are a couple regular life shots from these last few months.

I’m going to miss them. I know that for a fact.

I am sure you will miss them! It’s hard on mommies when their kids take those steps which you know can only lead them farther from the nest and away from you! Of course, you will have your little chickies for some time to come! LOL! Mine are grown and gone, but there is still almost a physical ache of missing them. Both my girls are going through some trials now, and it is a constant battle for me to just keep my heart at peace and trust them to the care of their Heavenly Father. He knows and loves and cares for them. I remind myself of it daily. Congratulations on this new little life! You haev a lot going on, and this is such a wonderful blessing as well!
Blessings to you and the new baby coming! Hope all the new changes in your life go smoothly and the kiddos love their new school
ah. love the shots with you in them~ you’re so pretty, girl! you remind me of ashley judd… only better looking.
have the kiddos went off to school yet? i can feel your tears – - i know i’d do the same. though, the thought of homeschooling another year right now about brings me to tears!! i kinda wish God would give us (shayne)
peace about sending them “away.” it’s more his thing to homeschool them than mine ~ which is hard. not only do i have to pray for patience, wisdom, etc. and all that stuff to teach them … but the DESIRE to as well — that my desire would match my husband’s. which isn’t always an easy thing~ i want it to, but sometimes.. honestly, it’s just not there in that area! : / praying about it all these days lots~
i forgot you were pregnant – you don’t even look it! you’ve had so much on your plate this summer i know ~ happy for you to be near family. that’s such a wonderful blessing…
back to folding laundry, while i watch Monk – then head to bed.
love & hugs.

@Hutch5 - Ashley Judd, huh? I’ll take it…..it beats Geena Davis. (Who to my almost horror, I’ve been told I resemble more than once. And by complete strangers no less. Is my face and mouth really that big? Come on, people!! LOL….whatever.
Yes, school can be a real dilemma…it’s a blessing to hear your desire for you and Shayne to be of like mind. (Because that can be a tough one!) It’s exciting that God gives each of us direction that is specific to us and the needs of our kids. At least, that’s what I’m counting on! My sister, Abby LOVES Monk.
@ToLiveLoved - Geena Davis? no way~ i don’t see it at all. i always get Nicole Kidman – :/ from strangers, etc. like you said. it drives me nuts… i always just smile and say, “well, wish i had her money!!”
